The deputy delegate of the Government in A Coruña, María Rivas, recalled that the Spanish Government continues to improve the network of protection for victims of gender violence with the new unemployment benefit, which entered into force on November 1, 2014. He did so during the training sessions given by the SEPE: ‘Subsidy for victims of Gender Violence, sexual or exercised by country or children’, in the Government Delegation in Galicia.
The talk, which was directed by the Director of the Benefits Office of the Public Service of State Employment (SEPE) of the Concello de Carballo, María Vanesa García Lema, had a total of 80 attendees among which stood out social workers, lawyers, psychologists, equality techniques of different concellos, autonomous personnel and representatives of NGOs.
Rivas thanked the Coordination Unit against Violence against Women of the Government Delegation in Galicia, the Unit against Violence against Women of the Government Subdelegation as well as the SEPE itself for the joint work they are doing. “It is essential that the different administrations unite and walk towards the same objective: to assist all the victims who need it, always taking into account their needs,” said the deputy delegate.
Rivas took advantage of the days to call on all women who suffer any type of violence, whatever their manifestation, and encouraged them to denounce, making it clear that “they have our hand open and stretched out, that of the Government, that of the Administrations and that of the State Security Forces, to hold on to it and to denounce their aggressors.”
He also recalled that 016 is a number provided by the Government of Spain totally free, confidential, that leaves no trace on the bill and that it attends 24 hours a day.”
During the training sessions, the accreditation of the status of victim of gender violence before the Public Service of State Employment, the accreditation form, the duration, the deadlines and the amount of the new subsidy for victims of gender violence approved by Royal Decree Law 2/2024, as well as the compatibility of this subsidy with respect to active income of insertion (RAI) were addressed.
