The deputy delegate of the Government in A Coruña, María Rivas, presided this morning together with the mayor, José Manuel López, the common meeting of the local security board of A Laracha, in which an analysis was made of the data referring to security in the town hall, to gender violence as well as the exceptional situation regarding the Local Police.
The deputy delegate made special mention of the security statistics provided by the Civil Guard and the city council: “A Laracha is a safe municipality, proof of the good work carried out by the Civil Guard is that it improved the data this last year.” The crime rate decreased by two points with respect to last year, now maintaining a rate of 23.96 per thousand inhabitants. It should also be noted that, A Laracha, is well below the provincial crime rate of 37.5, or that of Galicia (35.2). The meeting also highlighted the 7.14 per cent increase in clarified prison offences.
VioGen system
At the meeting, an assessment was made of the situation of gender violence in the municipality and during her speech the subdelegate stressed that A Laracha is one of the municipalities integrated into the VioGén System: “Collaboration through this system is very important because it is a key tool to ensure the protection of victims and their families in their daily lives.”
Rivas recalled that today there are 2,412 active cases in the province, “we have to continue working tirelessly to protect each of the women who are within the VioGén system, and for that we need the collaboration of all the institutions.” Institutions such as the Interinstitutional Coordination Bureau, the Master Plan and the funds of the State Pact.
The deputy delegate recalled that the city council has instruments to combat this type of violence: “with measures such as the Pact of State, of which the municipality of La Laracha is beneficiary, which received, last year, more than 13,200 euros, about 78,000 euros since 2018”. In addition, the Ministry for the Ecological Transition awarded the Larachés city council more than 2 million euros of the Recovery Plan.
