The government delegate in Galicia, Pedro Blanco, put the cession of the House of the Sea of Cabo de Cruz, in Boiro, as an example of the government’s commitment to municipalities and to improving services to citizens. He did so during the handing over of the keys of the property to the mayor of Boiro, Jose Ramón Romero, a symbolic act with which the Government extinguishes the agreement of cession for 30 years to the Social Security signed in 1986 and returns the property to the Concello de Boiro for its rehabilitation and putting into service for the citizens.
The delegate stressed that the reversal was possible thanks to the legal change made by the Government in the field of ascriptions last year and that it will allow hundreds of empty properties throughout Spain that are subject to interest by other administrations “to be valued and enjoyed by citizens.”
In the case of the House of the Sea of Cabo de Cruz, the agreement of cession signed in 1986 for 30 years expired in 2026, but, taking advantage of the aforementioned legal change, both parties, City Council and Ministry of Inclusion, Social Security and Migration, agreed to extinguish the same two years before, so the property will no longer be linked to the Social Institute of the Mariña to return to its owner: the Concello de Boiro.
This assignment is in addition to those of Santiago de Compostela and Camariñas. In the first case, the Ministry of Inclusion agreed to transfer two properties to the City Council to set up a sociocultural center and a public management day center, while in Camariñas the Casa del Mar de Camelle was transferred to the Council for use by the citizens.
The government delegate framed these transfers in the commitment of permanent collaboration of the Government of Pedro Sánchez with local governments and with the improvement of public services that they provide to citizens. “With these changes we make it possible that what belongs to everyone can be enjoyed by everyone and that those administrations that want to value this type of property can do it for the benefit of the population,” he added.
