The subdelegate of the Government in Pontevedra, Abel Losada, visited today the San Rafael Home and Clinic to give visibility to the Financial Education program “Finance for All”, developed in collaboration with the Bank of Spain, and whose main objective is to provide people with intellectual disabilities with key knowledge on the management of their personal finances. A total of 30 people, including students from the educational area and users, are participating in this initiative.
During his visit, Abel Losada has had the opportunity to know at first hand the impact that this type of initiative has on the life of people with intellectual disabilities, as well as the functioning of the sessions that are taught.
The subdelegate stressed the importance of this type of program to promote social inclusion and reduce the digital divide affecting people with intellectual disabilities, especially in a context in which banking and commercial services are digitized in leaps and bounds.
For his part, Raúl Torres, managing director of HC San Rafael stressed that “this training is very useful for the people we serve in our center because it promotes and promotes the competences related to the processes of reflection and decision making, and favors their autonomy and their active participation in society. In addition, it is an example of our commitment to promoting social inclusion and autonomy for people with intellectual disabilities, providing them with practical tools for their daily lives.”
The sessions cover key topics such as personal finance planning, proper use of banknotes and coins, the operation of accounts and cards, payment methods, and online banking and e-commerce management. In addition, it addresses the importance of protection against financial risks, legal developments and the safe use of digital environments.
The program not only seeks to provide tools for responsible management of the personal economy, but also to reduce the barriers often encountered by people with disabilities in the use of banking services.
