The subdelegate of the Government in Pontevedra, Abel Losada, demanded from the Ministry of Rural Environment the unblocking of the 2.8 million euros that the Ministry of Agriculture transferred last month to the Xunta and the urgent call for the order of direct aid announced in order to alleviate the effects that the virus of epizootic hemorrhagic disease (EHE) is causing on Galician livestock farms.
He noted that “the Rueda government was beaten up and did not take any steps to address this crisis in the livestock sector until the Ministry mobilized its resources but, once available,” he added, “we observe how they do not demonstrate any speed.”
Losada stressed that the Ministry approved the distribution among all the autonomous communities of a total of 15 million euros, Galicia being the third most benefited community in all of Spain. However, he regretted that “farmers still do not have any new subsidies despite the fact that Xunta has had the funds available for almost a month”.
On the other hand, the subdelegate of the Government criticized that the contributions announced by the autonomous entity remain at 2.6 million euros and, therefore, it will not equal the more than 2.8 million euros that the Government of Spain is going to transfer to help alleviate the damages in the livestock sector. “The Xunta calculated in various reports the total amount of aid at 5.4 million, but concealed that most of these funds are transferred by the Government of Pedro Sánchez,” said Losada.
