The government delegate in Galicia, Pedro Blanco, reviewed with María José Rallo, president of the State Meteorology Agency (AEMET), the investments of the state agency in the community. It was in the course of a meeting at the headquarters of the Government Delegation that was also attended by the Sub-delegate of the Government in A Coruña, María Rivas; the territorial delegate of the AEMET in Galicia, Francisco Infante, and the director of Administration, Javier Gago.
In the course of the same, the delegate highlighted the 2.2 million euros of investment from the funds of the Recovery Plan to modernize and raise the meteorological radar of Cerceda. As he explained, this equipment is part of a network of 15 radars distributed throughout the country.
The new infrastructure, located on Mount Cedeira, at 595 meters of altitude, will have 43 meters of height, concrete base and new equipment that will make it more precise and with more types of information. It will be in charge of controlling rainfall in the community and beyond its limits, both by sea and by land. Its commissioning is planned for the beginning of 2025.
The government delegate took the opportunity to highlight the excellent work carried out by half a hundred AEMET workers in Galicia in terms of weather forecasting and observation in the different headquarters of the institution. He also recalled the aeronautical services that are presented in the three airports of the community and from the naval base of Marín (Pontevedra).
