The deputy delegate of the Government, María Rivas, went today to the town hall of A Pobra do Caramiñal to coordinate together with the mayor, José Carlos Vidal, the security device that will be deployed in the Nazareno Festivities, which will be held from September 13 to 16 .
The subdelegate took advantage of her visit to value the investments that the Government carried out in recent years in the municipality through the Recovery Plan. Among them stands out the recovery of the coast of the Ribeiriña, which had an investment of 800,000 euros, an action of the Ministry of Ecological Transition and Demographic Challenge that allowed the recovery of 5,500 square meters of land in the public land maritime domain. To this action are added the € 402,068.39 of the environmental regeneration of the coasts of the municipality as well as the maintenance and regeneration of the Areal Beach, with the aim of adapting them to climate change and improving them for public use.
The subdelegate of the Government also pointed out that the Program to Promote the Rehabilitation of Public Buildings (PIREP), made possible the rehabilitation works of the IES teaching center of A Pobra do Caramiñal with an investment of 1,355,911 euros.
María Rivas indicated that the Recovery Plan also allows to act in the improvement of the energy efficiency of the public lighting of the city with an investment of 554,027 euros; and also, through the UNICO Broadband Plan allows to bring the conetividade to 124 homes and businesses through an action that counted on an investment of 31,111.78 euros from the Ministry of Economic Affairs.
The subdelegate wanted to add value to the more than 40,000 euros received by the city through the State Pact against Gender Violence, 13,651 for this year 2024, funds intended to develop equality policies, awareness-raising actions and activities aimed at achieving a more egalitarian society and with zero tolerance with gender violence.
Investments in the Barbanza region
The Government’s deputy delegate also took advantage of her visit to the Pobra to highlight the Government’s investments in the Barbanza region, which already exceed 34.4 million euros.
María Rivas stressed that the Ministry of Industry, Trade and Tourism, allocated 6.4 million euros to the region with the aim of moving towards a more sustainable and modern tourism and promoting the digitalization of the sector.
María Rivas recalled that the Community of Municipalities of Barbanza, of which the City Council of A Pobra do Caramiñal is part along with those of Boiro, Rianxo and Ribeira, obtained 976,800 euros within the ‘Experiential Translatio’ initiative. Ruta Mar de Arousa río Ulla’, aimed at digitizing and modernizing the local entities that are part of the Network of Intelligent Tourist Destinations of the Camino de Santiago to improve the attention and experience of the pilgrim on his journey.
In this same vein, María Rivas highlighted the 1.5 million euros granted to the Commonwealth for the development of its Tourism Sustainability Plan, which aims to strengthen the supply of active tourism through the region’s wine and wine supply.
In the same way, he highlighted the investments made in the Ribeira Police Station with 3,1,M euros, and the 7,2 M euros of the modernization of the maritime rescue center of Puerto del Son.
Local Security Board
The deputy delegate of the Government chaired, together with the mayor José Carlos Vidal, the Local Security Board in which they finalized the device that will be deployed during the celebration of the Nazarene Festivities, which will be held from September 13 to 16.
An Advanced Command Post is planned to coordinate the entire operation, which will include patrols by the Civil Guard, the Civil Traffic Guard and the Local Police. There will also be a large number of Civil Protection volunteers as well as the corresponding emergency services and ambulances.
During the festivities of the Nazarene, a Violet Space will be set up in the Mayor Segundo Durán Square, which will be attended by a social educator and a psychologist, where information will be provided and activities will be carried out aimed at raising awareness about the machista aggressions. They will also inform and accompany on the steps to follow from the occurrence of an episode of these characteristics.
In the Violeta Space will be delivered informative materials against male violence. This activity is part of the activities financed with the funds of the State Pact against Gender Violence of the Ministry of Equality.
Finally, María Rivas stressed the full collaboration of the subdelegation of the Government and of the State Security Forces and Corps to help the festivities develop with maximum tranquility ensuring that both the neighborhood and the visitors can fully enjoy the Nazarene Festivities 2024 and the programmed activities. In the same way, he thanked the effort and collaboration between the Local Police and the Civil Guard to work together in the security of the Pobra neighborhood.
