The government delegate in Galicia, Pedro Blanco, today highlighted the collaboration of the State Security Forces and Corps to provide coverage and security for the 79th edition of the Cycling Tour to Spain as it passes through Galicia.
He did so today in the town of Padrón, starting and finishing point of stage number 11 of the Spanish round, where he was accompanied by the subdelegate of the Government in A Coruña, María Rivas. There, he thanked the Civil Guard and National Police agents for their work in organizing this event and reminded the citizens of the importance of following the signs so that the Tour runs normally.
Before the start of the stage, the delegate greeted the 134 members of the Mobility and Road Safety Unit (UMSV) of the Civil Guard, a team created ex profeso for this competition. This group employs 92 vehicles with which it accompanies the sporting event throughout its route, with the mission of providing road safety and mobility to the development of the test, as well as ensuring public order and safety. This group is complemented by personnel from the various Civil Guard Commanders and the National Police Stations of the locations where the competition takes place.
In Padrón, the delegate also participated in the tribute organized by the Civil Guard to agent Luis Fernando Villar Santos, who died in 2023.
