More than 12,000 self-employed workers from the province of Pontevedra will receive an official message in the coming days to update their contact details and, especially, their email address. This is warned by the Government’s deputy delegate, Abel Losada; the provincial director of the General Treasury of Social Security (TXSS), Juan Herrera, and the provincial deputy director of Revenue Management, María José López, who come from having a working meeting on this matter.
The subdelegate stressed that the messages of SMS and #postcard, will be clear and will be duly verified. Those who receive them must comply with the instructions to provide their electronic addresses only through the IMPORT@SS portal of the General Treasury of Social Security or, if they prefer, personally, in any office of the Treasury. “We live in a world in which fraud and deception are closely linked to technology, so we consider it important to expressly warn that we are going to start this campaign so that no one is surprised and everything is done with absolute security,” explained Losada.
Losada explained that the TXSS is reviewing and updating the General Affiliation File to debug errors in the contact data and detected that in these more than 12,000 cases (out of a total of about 70,000 self-employed people registered in the province) there were errors in the electronic addresses. Juan Herrera added that the TXSS’s inability to contact the self-employed worker can be a serious obstacle, given that a notification not received with a debtor balance could generate, if necessary, a debt to Social Security.
The objective of this update of the electronic addresses is to ensure that the entire group receives the communications that the TXSS is going to send in the last quarter of the year within the framework of the new process of annual regularization of the contribution system. Annual regularization is necessary because the monthly bases chosen each year by the worker are provisional until the annual regularization of the contribution takes place. Before the end of 2024, it is therefore necessary to regularize the bases of the year 2023. The Treasury receives due year information on the actual annual returns received. If the quota chosen during the year is lower than the one associated with the real returns, communicated by the Tax Administration, the worker must be notified of the difference. The amount of the regularization must be paid before the last day of the month following the notification. Conversely, if the actual contribution is higher than the maximum base of the tranche in which the returns are included, the Treasury must reinstate the difference by 30 April of the next financial year.
