The government delegate in Galicia, Pedro Blanco, highlighted the government’s commitment to improving the public services of rural municipalities, which translates into 10 million euros of investments in the Concello de Sarria in recent years to advance its digitalization and sustainability. Pedro Blanco went to the town to check the positive impact of the projects financed by the Government together with the mayor, Claudio Garrido; the subdelegate of the Government in Lugo, Isabel Rodríguez; and members of the local government. “This aid allows the replacement of about 4,500 light points with new LED technology, with an energy saving of 75%, reducing light pollution and CO2 emissions,” explained the delegate.
Likewise, Pedro Blanco highlighted the Government’s commitment “to the green and digital transformation of municipalities, with which we progressively walk towards sustainable models that leave a positive impact on both respect for the environment and savings to municipal coffers”. He recalled at this point that MITECO “resolved a few weeks ago the first call for singular projects in order to renew the municipal outdoor lighting facilities, which leave 8.5 million euros in Galicia for performances in 9 municipalities”.
This investment is added to the UN-Broadband Plan, developed by the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Business, and which allows the arrival of high-speed internet, through fiber optics, to 1,229 homes and companies in the town, or the contribution of the CHMS of 3.5 million euros in different actions to improve the sanitation of the city.
Finally, the delegate highlighted the commitment to communications and territorial cohesion, “since Sarria benefits from the renovation of the Ourense–Monforte–Lugo line, with an investment of 550 M€ that will connect the province with the high speed”, also highlighting concrete actions “such as the new pedestrian path that ADIF is putting in place to connect not only the roads but also the urban center of Sarria and the neighborhood of O Mazadoiro, a historical neighborhood claim with which we comply from the Government”.
Pedro Blanco promised to continue working hand in hand with the municipalities to improve public services and, therefore, the quality of life of all neighbors and neighbors.
