The government delegate in Galicia, Pedro Blanco, put the Concello de Negreira as an example of the government’s commitment to municipalism and to small municipalities. He did so during a visit to the town where he was accompanied by its mayor, Manuel Ángel Leis, in which they reviewed the government’s investments in the concello, which exceed 1.7 million euros.
Pedro Blanco pointed out that this commitment “is reflected in the direct collaboration that we maintain with each and every one of the Galician councillors and that allows the obtaining of funds to undertake actions that improve the lives of the neighbors of these municipalities”.
In the case of Negreira, the delegate explained, the Government’s money made it possible to replace and improve the lighting system of the municipality with a more efficient and sustainable one, an action that translates, among other things, into a saving of the electric bill of about 125,000 euros per year, but also a greater control of the system, with which the breakdowns will be reduced and those points that need more light will be better identified.
In this line, he recalled that Negreira also benefits from government actions financed from the funds of the Recovery Plan, such as the UNICO program, with which 850 homes and businesses that until now did not have high-speed internet will have this service, or the Tourist Sustainability Plan in Destination ‘Terras de Santiago’, with 1.3 million euros to be distributed among the ten municipalities that make up the GDR Terras de Compostela, among which is Negreira.
“The Galician concellos, especially the youngest ones, know that they have an ally in this government to make their projects a reality, partly thanks to the funds of the Recovery Plan, with investments that reach each and every one of the 313 Galician concellos,” said Pedro Blanco, who took the opportunity to thank the mayor “for his work to provide the Negrera with first-class services that improve the lives of its neighbors and neighbors.”
