The subdelegate of the Government in Pontevedra, Abel Losada, is supervising the logistical planning that he carries out to the Subdelegation of the Government to ensure the correct development of the Elections to the European Parliament on June 9. In these days, he visited the device to prepare all the electoral material that will be sent to the 1,347 electoral tables that will be constituted next Sunday. Non-operative was the preparation and “overbooking” of all the material that the members of the tables will receive on the day of the elections: minutes, envelopes, kits of office material and triptychs of accessibility, to guarantee the correct exercise of the right to vote of all people. In addition, a simulation of the election day was held in the Subdelegation. This practical exercise simulated the entire operation of receiving data from the scrutiny.
In the last few days, the Subdelegation also distributed the more than 18 million ballot papers that will be distributed among all the electoral tables of the province and will be made available to the Post Office and the Delegation of the National Institute of Statistics for sending abroad to guarantee the CERA vote.
The deputy delegate recalled that the General Administration of the State has assigned two main functions in this electoral process. On the one hand, to provide the necessary logistical support for the exercise of the vote, including the security of the entire process and, on the other, to transmit the data of participation and scrutiny on the same day of the Elections.
The deputy delegate also wanted to thank the 96 employees of the Subdelegation who work to ensure the proper conduct of these elections.
The electoral device in figures
A total of 915,122 citizens of the province have the right to vote, of which 42,570 will do so for the first time in a European Elections because they have reached the age of majority since the last call. Not collectively there are 2,643 citizens of the European Union residing in the province and, on the contrary, 139,200 represent Pontevedresses and Pontevedresas who live outside the Spanish borders. The latter will receive at their home the necessary documentation to deposit the vote, either in the premises authorized in the destination countries or by certified mail.
These elections will decide a total of 720 MEPs, of which Spain elects 61. In the Elections to the European Parliament there is a single constituency at national level, the difference from the autonomous or general ones, in which the provinces are the ones that mark the territorial divisions. Thus, there is only a single list of candidates for the whole of Spain.
Regarding logistics, the government delegate stressed that Pontevedra will have 1,347 tables distributed in 660 electoral venues. About 2,500 ballot boxes and 1,000 booths will be available to choose the ballot papers.
These tables will be attended by 4,041 table members, although more than 12,123 people are invited, among holders and alternates. On Sunday, 730 representatives of the Administration will be in charge of verifying the correct opening of the tables, resolving incidents and collecting the data of participation and the vote count. In addition, during the election day, at the headquarters of the Subdelegation there will be personnel authorized to resolve any incident that may arise with the representatives, the constitution of the tables or the material, in collaboration with the Electoral Boards.
Security Operative
Abel Losada highlighted the important deployment of security personnel to guarantee the free exercise of the right to vote. This staff will be located in the voting centers, their accesses and other points of interest of the day. The forecast indicates that 2,490 security personnel, including National Police (877), Civil Guard (1,180) and Local Police (433), will integrate this device.
The deputy delegate thanked all these professionals, guarantees of public security, their effort and work, as well as words of gratitude for all the volunteers of the Administration and the citizens who will be part of the voting tables, responsible for ensuring that the electoral day progresses normally and that the right to vote is guaranteed.
What’s New in My Citadel Folder
A new official version is available for iOS and Android devices, as well as through its website, which allows you to consult information related to the electoral process. Among the information available is the data of the electoral college, table, section, etc., in which the right to vote may be exercised; that is, what is received on the printed census card. Thus, any citizen will be able to consult this information through the application if the census card is lost or forgotten. This action was carried out in agreement with the Central Electoral Office and was made possible thanks to the collaboration of the Electoral Census Office of the National Statistics Institute, which acts as a provider of the data.
This new feature will be available for future election dates from now on. In addition, in a stable way in time, the information of the continuous census that closes every month, whether or not elections are scheduled, will also be offered.
