The government delegate in Galicia, Pedro Blanco, reported on the improvement of safety on the train line passing through the towns of Ourense and Sarria with the next elimination of 7 steps at the level in which ADIF invests 7 million euros. Pedro Blanco was in Ourense where he toured the two points that will improve the organization of the Ministry of Transport, and which are the crossings of the Barra de Miño and Peliquín road (at kilometer points 42/743 and 45/245 of the railway line that connects Monforte de Lemos with Vigo).
There, the delegate, accompanied by deputies and councilors, pointed out the importance of this type of action, which “will improve the transversal permeability in these localities and increase the safety conditions for the mobility of pawns and railway and road traffic”.
Pedro Blanco explained that the ADIF opened the tender for the two contracts (one for each location) on April 10. The deadline for submitting tenders is May 23rd. In Ourense, the ADIF will promote the elimination of two steps with an investment of 2.82 million euros and an execution period of seven months. In the case of Sarria, the contract includes the deletion of five steps at level, with an investment of 4.14 million euros and 18 months to execute the works.
Detail of the performances
The delegate pointed out that the two works that will be developed in Ourense respond to the demands of the citizens of the environment. Specifically, in the neighborhood of O Peliquín, ADIF will eliminate the current passage and install an elevated walkway on the train tracks. The new structure would be located 400 meters from the current pass, and would have a height of up to seven meters.
In Sarria, ADIF’s actions include the construction of two upper passes and one lower pass, as well as the reorganisation of the roads. In this town hall, the steps that will be eliminated are those located at kilometer points 386/169, 386/644, 386/975, 387/316 and 388/492 of the Line 800 León – A Coruña.
Modernization of the Ourense–Monforte line of Lemos–Lugo
These actions are part of the plan to modernize the Ourense - Monforte de Lemos - Lugo line (117 kilometers) that the Government is undertaking with more than 550 million euros. This investment will serve to strengthen the reliability and capacity of the route and contribute to improving travel times on the line.
