The subdelegate of the Government in Pontevedra, Abel Losada, co-chaired this morning the Local Security Board of the City of Cangas with its mayor, Araceli Gestido in which the immediate creation of a technical work commission was approved for the signing of a future collaboration agreement for territorial distribution in terms of traffic regulation in the municipality. The meeting was attended by Councillor Sagrario Martínez; the Colonel Chief of the Civil Guard Command in Pontevedra, Simón Venzal; the head of the Traffic Group in the province, Captain Antonio Pérez Piteira and the provincial head of Traffic, Paula Yubero, as well as the head of the Local Police, Alberto Ojo, and the Chief Inspector of the Seconded Police Unit, Diego González.
The Local Board decided that the Local Police and the Provincial Traffic Headquarters should start exchanging documentation for the regulation, management and management of traffic in the municipality, including the review of signage in matters of delimitation of the towns. The subdelegate explained that “once this technical commission completes its work on the map, an agreement will be signed between the Provincial Traffic Headquarters and the Mayor’s Office “that will allow to provide a better public service to the citizens.” This agreement will be the third of the province of this type, since the municipalities of Pontevedra and Vigo already have these commissions in place.
Abel Losada celebrated the climate of understanding and cordiality in which the meeting took place and agreed with the need, expressed by the mayor, to clarify the spaces in which the different bodies serve in a town hall such as Cangas, which has a special problem in the summer season. In addition, the deputy delegate made it clear that Cangas will sign an agreement with the same rank as the rest of the municipalities of the province that request it, according to the legal report issued by the State Attorney. “It is an operational agreement that will serve to provide a better service, which is what matters and what concerns us all,” he said. This agreement, which will be signed by the provincial head of Traffic and the mayor will therefore replace, with full guarantees, the previous “delimitation of competences between the Local Police and the Civil Guard”.
The subdelegate understands that “the search for a solution for the future is on track” and explained that “in the probable case that this summer season the agreement had not been signed, collaboration mechanisms between the two police forces will be promoted to optimize traffic control, especially in the area of the coast”.
In relation to the accesses to Donón, which are owned by the community of mountains and are located in an area declared Red Natura, it should be the Seconded Unit of the Autonomous Police who, in collaboration with the Local Police, within the framework of its competences, must regulate the traffic, since it is impossible to include them in the future agreement to what the Local Security Board gave the good news today.
In addition, the Local Security Board addressed the impact of the Master Plan for Security and Coexistence in Educational Centers and their Environments. The deputy delegate asked for the maximum collaboration of the City Council so that these talks, offered by the Civil Guard to train the educational community in the prevention of the commission of crimes, also reach, in a very special way, the group of mothers and fathers. Abel Losada reported that last year’s data indicate an exponential growth of participating students throughout the province, but it is necessary to emphasize that the activities are also offered, in a specific way, to the Mothers and Country Associations (ANPA). For its part, the City Council undertook to contact the ANPAs of the municipality to invite them to participate in this initiative and assess the possibility of organizing joint events with the associations of all educational centers. “New people are today exposed to risks derived mainly from the emergence of technologies and families need the maximum support and useful tools to address the problems that affect the safety and training of their upbringing,” said Losada.

The City Council and the Provincial Traffic Headquarters will sign a collaboration agreement to optimize the public service throughout the municipality, with special attention to the beach area. The Local Security Board also promotes the Master Plan so that the training activities organized by the Civil Guard reach, in addition to the students, the community of mothers and fathers.
