The subdelegate of the Government in Pontevedra, Abel Losada, reported on the new measures agreed with the main agricultural organizations and recently approved by the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food for the benefit of the sector. On a visit to the dairy farm Ganadería Manteiga S.C in Oirós (Vila de Cruces), Losada pointed out that the 43 initiatives agreed after intense work with agricultural professional organizations respond to the concerns that farmers and ranchers conveyed during the last mobilizations.
The subdelegate explained that this is a solid set of measures distributed in seven areas of action that include the simplification and flexibilization of certain aspects of the CAP, the strengthening of the food chain, support for agricultural insurance, new fiscal, financial and labor measures, support for extensive livestock farming and animal health, as well as improvements in the incorporation of young people into agricultural activity, among others.
“These are initiatives that show the commitment of the Government of Spain to a strategic sector for Galicia and for the interior of the province of Pontevedra,” he explained. Losada also highlighted the precise and practical nature of these measures “endowed with a great capacity for immediacy so that their benefits reach our agricultural professionals, farmers and ranchers as soon as possible”.
The subdelegate of the Government took the opportunity to inform that the Ministry of Agriculture comes from making a new payment in the amount of 197,352 euros to 228 Galician farmers as extraordinary aid for the consequences of the drought and the war in Ukraine. With this new payment, there are already 12,534 farms benefited and 10,180,810€ the injected economic aid.
Abel Losada knew at first hand the model of Manteiga Livestock Farming “a sustainable family farm that is an example of generational relief and the technical and economic leap that I experienced for the Galician dairy sector in recent decades”.
