The subdelegate of the Government in A Coruña, María Rivas, reported the notable increase in participation in the activities developed through the Master Plan for the improvement of coexistence in educational centers and their contours, highlighting the increase registered in the last year in participation by families and teachers. Specifically, the subdelegate indicated that, in 2023, the number of teachers who participated in the activities increased threefold, from 602 in 2022 to a total of 1,950.
It also wanted to report the increase in participation by families, which went from the 549 participants in the previous year to 1,379, which represents an increase of 61%.
The results of the year 2023 show the good progress and reception of the activities of the Master Plan by the whole of the educational community, which allowed to bring them closer to 359 schools and 41,509 participating attendees, of which 38,180 are students and students.
In the course of the meeting, the involvement of all the institutions and agents involved in the implementation of the activities of the Master Plan was noted, indicating that these figures respond to the work of coordination and collaboration between administrations, educational centers, associations of mothers and fathers and State Security Forces and Corps, appointed National Police and Civil Guard, especially of the agents who daily support the educational community and carry out the activities in the centers.
Another of the figures that emerged during the meeting was that, of the 4,200 activities carried out under the Master Plan in Galicia, 1920 took place in the province, which accounts for almost half of all the activity of the Plan.
At the meeting held this morning, the interventions made were also analyzed according to the theme. In this regard, it should be noted that the greatest number of activities were carried out within the field of cybersecurity and access to new information technologies, with a total of 1,512 actions; followed by activities related to bullying, where cyberbullying is also mentioned, there were 1,057 activities carried out in this field in the last year.
The rest of the topics that are included in the activities of the Master Plan vary from addictions: drugs and alcohol, attributed, video games; violence against women, sexual crimes; violent groups, hate crimes: discrimination, filio-parental violence, human trafficking and other activities such as: intellectual property, legal protection personal data, nature protection, road safety, prevention of sexual crimes, professional guidance.
New Security Instruction (6/2023). This school year (2023/2024) is the first in which it is applied to new instruction of the Secretary of State for Security on the Master Plan that aims to respond to the new challenges, incorporating new risks detected, also incorporating legislative novelties, and in general, updating this Plan in accordance with the plans and strategies of the Secretary of State.
In order to optimize and improve the application of these new guidelines, the Government Subdelegation will continue to work on two main lines:
- Improve the participation of families. If last year different activities were carried out with the Federation of Mothers and Country Associations of public centers, this year the Association of private and concerted centers will also be incorporated.
- Make a survey in the municipalities that have Local Police to know the activities they carry out in the educational centers, and optimize the coordination with the activities of the Master Plan.
The Master Plan also includes complementary activities: exhibitions, demonstrations, open doors, visits to police centers, competitions, etc., these activities went from 154 in the year 2022 to a total of 230 in the last year. In this regard, he stressed the importance of the exhibitions always having in mind the solidarity character “which allows us to use the Master Plan as a tool to help people in situations of vulnerability”.
Finally, the meeting also served to gather contributions and suggestions for the improvement of activities in future actions, and to plan for the new guidelines of the Plan.
