Ourense, March 12, 2024.- The subdelegate of the Government in Ourense, Emilio González, presented this morning in the provincial delegation of Ourense the new Violeta Points that will be available to the 10 offices that the Public Service of State Employment (SEPE) maintains in the province and that will serve as safe places for women victims of machista attacks.
Emilio González valued the impact that actions like this have to consolidate the objective of making the Public Administration "a mirror of the unequivocal commitment of the Government of Pedro Sánchez with the eradication of male violence in all its forms." It has also stressed the "safe and supportive place" in which all SEPE offices will be converted for all women who suffer physical, psychological and even economic violence.
The subdelegate stressed that currently about 425 women in Ourense are in the system of protection and follow-up against gender violence of the Ministry of the Interior, as well as the increase of men as persistent aggressors. "It is not a mere statistic, because each case speaks of a woman, of a very difficult personal situation, who needs psychological, social and economic support," he said.
At the event, in which the deputy delegate was accompanied by the provincial deputy director of the SEPE in Ourense, Blanca Paz; The head of the Coordination Unit against Violence against Women of the Government Subdelegation, Alida Iglesias, explained that the creation of these Violet Points in the offices of the SEPE will be accompanied by training of the directors of the offices, so that they become reference experts to be used in a case of violence.
Each of the points will be identified as such and will have a QR code that will be linked to the Violeta Point Guide, with information on how to act in cases of aggression, resources for victims and information of interest to know how to identify machista attitudes. and put an end to them.
In the province of Ourense, this measure will be transferred to each of the offices that SEPE offers in the province: the two in the capital, the provincial office of Ourense located in the Barrio de A Ponte, the office of the Jardin do Posío; as well as the provincial delegations of Xinzo de Limia, O Barco de Valdeorras, Verín, Viana do Bolo, A Pobra de Trives, Carballiño, Celanova and Ribadavia.
This resource is part of the catalogue of urgent measures of the Improvement and Modernization Plan promoted by different ministries in the context of machista alarm in recent months. It also implies a change of focus in the policies of care for victims, placing male violence as a structural problem that must be attacked from the involvement of all State institutions.
