The Government’s Deputy Delegate to Lugo, Isabel Rodríguez; the head of the Unit against Violence against Women of the Subdelegation, María Luisa Castro; and the Provincial Director of the Public Service of State Employment, Ana María García, inaugurated in the Provincial Directorate of the SEPE of Lugo the Violeta Point, a safe place for women who are suffering from male violence. This initiative will be taken to the 12 offices in the province with the aim of expanding the safety and security network from the public administrations for women who need it.
Isabel Rodríguez stressed that the inauguration of these points responds to a process of progressive improvement by incorporating public entities and creating a safety network for women. These points will also serve to provide information and materials on how to respond to a case of male violence to establishments, entities, companies or public agencies.
“Once again, we note the commitment of the Government and all of the administrations to a structural problem that causes inequalities, discrimination, aggression and murders of women in our country, a matter of state for which we offer maximum knowledge and protection,” said the subdelegate. Currently, the province of Lugo has 698 women registered in the database of the VioXen system.
The subdelegate and the head of the Gender Violence Unit of the Subdelegation brought more data from the province such as that in the year 2023 446 calls were made to 016, that currently 39 women are users of the ATENPRO service and that there are 59 COMETA devices in Lugo. These data demonstrate the necessary and important intervention of the State in this matter.
Information and materials
No Violet Point that will be authorized in the provincial offices of the SEPE will be found some materials such as information guides on the procedure of action, resources for victims or explanations on the detection of the different types of violence. The dissemination and awareness campaign also features posters and stickers with a QR code linked to the Punto Violeta Guide.
This inauguration is part of the events that are being carried out by the Government Delegation and Subdelegations throughout the community, along with other actions such as the placement of the banner or the day that took place yesterday on the legal framework applicable to foreign women victims of gender violence.
