Ourense, March 1, 2024.- The Subdelegation of the Government in Ourense will hold a conference on the "Legal framework applicable to foreign women victims of gender violence". The training activity aims to deepen the legal framework and the international protection regime applicable to foreign women victims of gender violence, and will be held in the training room of the Government Subdelegation between 11 a.m. The Government Deputy Delegate will welcome the participants and will present the day, whose report will be in charge of the Head of the Foreign Affairs Office of the Government Subdelegation, Josefina Rodríguez Durán.
Emilio González indicated that “with this day we want to reflect together on the procedures, authorizations and different cases that affect foreign women, victims of gender violence, who come to our institutions in search of help and solutions.”
The most specific aspects that will be addressed on this day have to do with issues such as the authorization of residence of foreign women victims of gender and/or sexual violence, provisional authorization procedures, family reunification, international protection orders, etc.
The objective is to train the personnel of the social services and Women’s Information Centers (CIM), personnel of Non-Governmental Organizations (NGOs), members of the Security Forces and Bodies, lawyers and any professional working in the field of gender prevention. Violence and care for victims; so that they can have as much information as possible on the legal framework applicable to foreign women victims of male violence.
8m program: recognition of the pioneers of Ourense and new violet points in the offices of SEPE
This day is part of the program of activities organized by the Subdelegation of the Government of Ourense on the occasion of International Women’s Day (8M), in the framework of which it is also planned to launch the first purple dot in the offices of the Public Service of State Employment (SEPE) of the province, the placement of a banner at the headquarters of the subdelegation, as well as the celebration of a central act with the reading of the institutional declaration of the Government on the occasion of 8M that will take place next Friday, 8 March, in front of the subdelegation. Within this, the subdelegation intends this year to pay tribute to the pioneering women of the province of Ourense. "Ourense women ahead of their time who fought for progress, freedom and to achieve spaces that at the time seemed impossible and that today make them referents that we cannot forget," said the deputy delegate of the Government, Emilio González, during the presentation of the program with the head of the unit of Viogen in Ourense, Alida Iglesias.
Among the pioneers stand out: Antonia Ferrín, The Touza sisters, Olympia Valencia, Elisa and Marcela, The teachers of Vilar Dastrés, Asunción González, Eugenia Pereira, Josefina Salgado, Enma González, Olga Gallego or Rebeca López de Turiso.
March 8, International Women’s Day, has as its main objective to claim and claim the full equality of rights between women and men, framed within the commemorations promoted by the United Nations. A date to remind us all that women’s rights, in many parts of the world, are yet to be achieved.
