The government delegate, Pedro Blanco, highlighted the municipalist commitment of the Government of Pedro Sánchez, with the unprecedented commitment to the transformation of small rural municipalities, which is exemplified in the more than 10 million euros of investment in the improvement of services and infrastructures in Cañiza. “They are investments that show the tireless work of the Government of Spain with the municipalities to improve the living conditions of its inhabitants, regardless of whether they live in a large city or in a smaller municipality,” he said.
In this regard, the delegate recalled that the commitment to small municipalities translates into facts such as the 22.6% increase by the Government of Pedro Sánchez in funding to local entities for next year, a decision “of justice for the administrations closest to the neighborhood, which will be able, thus, to provide more and better public services.” “Faced with this bet”, he added, “we observe how other administrations remain installed in the immobilism and have been placed for years against the general interest of the citizens of Galicia, by freezing the financing to local entities and thus preventing new investments and actions for the direct benefit of the neighborhood.”
During the visit, the delegate, together with the mayor of A Cañiza, Luis Piña, supervised the project for the renovation of street lighting in the urban center financed by the Ministry for the Ecological Transition and the Demographic Challenge (MITECO) through the Institute for Energy Diversification (IDAE), with an investment of close to one million euros. This project is part of the integral renovation of lighting throughout the municipality, with the change of all luminaires to state-of-the-art LED, providing more luminosity and a significant saving in energy consumption and CO2 emissions. The total investment in the entire municipal territory by the IDAE amounted to more than 2.4 million euros.
“They are investments that put people in the center, as we also saw in the rehabilitation works of the municipal pool that benefit hundreds of neighbors thanks to an investment of almost 1 million euros by the Ministry of Transport,” said Pedro Blanco.
Likewise, in the review of state investments in the municipality the government delegate pointed out that the Mi⦅⦆ -Sil Hydrographic Confederation is going to invest 1.45 million euros in the improvement of the purification and sanitation systems of the municipality, while in relation to infrastructures, A Cañiza has an investment of almost 900 thousand euros for the repair of the firm in the N-120 and this week the Ministry of Transport committed 4.7 million euros to improve the energy efficiency of the Folgoso tunnel.
A Cañiza will also have high-speed internet connections thanks to the Single Broadband Program of the Government’s Recovery Plan and is part of the Sustainable Tourism Plan “County-Paradanta”, which has 1.5 million euros of investment.
“For this Government to territorial cohesion and the improvement of the quality of life of the inhabitants of the municipalities of Galicia, from the largest to the smallest, is a backbone, so A Cañiza has the outstretched hand of this Government to continue growing,” concluded the Government delegate.
