The government delegate, Pedro Blanco, held a meeting with the mayor of Ribeira, #Luís Pérez Barral, with whom he addressed issues related to security in the municipality. María Rivas, deputy delegate of the Government in A Coruña, and the deputy mayor, Francisco Suarez Puerta, were also present.
Pedro Blanco exemplified in Ribeira the Government’s commitment to citizen security, which manifests itself in the new police station and in the increase of police forces. In addition, the Ministry of the Interior made a very important effort in terms of human resources, since, in the last three years, it increased the number of police personnel in the Ribeira Police Station by 13. Specifically, one inspector, four sub-inspectors, one officer and seven policemen, occupying almost 90% of the available jobs.
The crime rate in Ribeira has remained constant in recent years, while the rate of clarification has increased, so that, as a result of the professionalism of the police forces present in this municipality, 21 of the 28 robberies could be solved with force in establishments and 4 of the 21 robberies with force in registered homes, all this despite the difficulty involved in investigating these crimes.
During the meeting, the delegate and the mayor of Ribeira agreed on the maintenance of the lines of collaboration between the national and local police forces to guarantee the levels of security reached in this City Council
