The government delegate in Galicia, Pedro Blanco, highlighted in Vilardevós the work developed by the municipalities to carry out projects that promote a social dynamization from the local. Pedro Blanco went to Vilardevós where he became interested in the initiatives promoted by the Government chaired by Mayor Eva Pérez. These initiatives have as a framework of action the recovery of the heritage, “for the benefit of a large part of the population”, he said.
The delegate recalled that the proposals of Vilardevós opt for the aid in which the municipalities of the demographic challenge, among which is this city council, are priorities. In addition, he recalled that this category of municipalities was established by the Government of Pedro Sánchez to designate and support municipalities with less than 5,000 inhabitants that require a plan to tackle depopulation and rural abandonment.
Pedro Blanco, accompanied by the deputy delegate of the Government in Ourense, Emilio González, said that “the work carried out by the administrations of these municipalities is fundamental so that they can move forward and build more lively and dynamic municipalities, putting a stop to the depopulation of the rural and betting on the sustainability and expansion of services, making life in it more attractive and promoting advances that put the people who inhabit it in the center.”
One of the projects that the mayor presented to the delegate consists of the adaptation and recovery of the route of the mills to value the natural area of La Cidadella in the surroundings of the river. This project would add to the kilometers of natural routes that run through the town hall and contribute to its dynamization with the attraction of inhabitants and tourism.
The delegate expressed his satisfaction with initiatives that are in the same line as the policies of the Government in which it respects the Demographic Challenge, which favors communication between administrations to achieve, among all, a Galician territory integrated and adapted to the new forms of work and opportunities that proved effective in the face of the depopulation suffered by these territories.
Government investments in Vilardevós
Pedro Blanco and the mayor reviewed at the meeting the support of the Government to the City of Vilardevós in these years in which it benefited from aid of 40,000 euros with which the local administration financed the renovation of public lighting.
In addition, the City of Vilardevós benefits from the UNICO-Broadband program, which is executed by the Government to complete the digitization of the Galician territory. This program will make possible the high-performance internet connection to 43 population centers, which will cover a total of 108 homes and companies, which in practice, means the complete digitization of the municipal territory providing access with speeds of 300Mbs.
