The subdelegate of the Government in A Coruña, María Rivas, inaugurated today the training day Against Gender Violence organized by the Federation of Rural Women's Associations (FADEMUR) aimed at the Association of Rural Women Airiños Gallegos, and which took place in the city of Frades
The Head of the Unit against Gender Violence of the Subdelegation of the Government in A Coruña, María Isabel Álvarez, participated in the talk; the agent of the Civil Guard of the Viogen team of the Company of Santiago, María José Regos Brocos; the Vice-President of the Association of Women Rirais “Airiños Gallegos”, María Consolación Berdomás; the Technique of Fademur Galicia, Anta Toimil; and the President of Fademur Marcos, Vergalicia.
This talk is framed within the activities organized by the Subdelegation of the Government in A Coruña throughout the month of November to commemorate the 25N, which is the date on which the International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women is celebrated.
The subdelegate María Rivas wanted to emphasize the resources available for the fight against gender violence, placing special emphasis on the work done both by the Civil Guard and by the Local Police. In this regard, he stressed the importance of rural municipalities joining the Viogen system, which allows more efficient action by the State Security Forces and Corps.
In this sense, it must be taken into account that of the total number of active cases in Viogen in Galicia at the moment, 60% are located outside the big cities, that is, in the rural area, that is why it is also very important to carry out training actions such as this one so that, from the associative entities, they can work in the prevention, in the awareness and in the detection of male violence.
In addition, these activities contribute to making visible and helping to raise awareness of the multiple forms of violence against women, as well as providing information on the resources available to act.
More activities from 25 N
Within the activities that remain to be developed around 25N, the subdelegation will also carry out another training day on “Communication and Gender Violence”, which will be held on November 27 at the Faculty of Audiovisual Communication and Sociology of La Coruña and in which professionals from the world of communication, the production of audiovisual content and representatives of the associations of women victims of gender violence will participate.
This day is aimed primarily at young people, and will try to make them reflect on the treatment given to women in the media, in the audiovisual and how through communication roles are perpetuated and new forms of violence against women are created.
Tomorrow, November 23, there will be a radio program at the Social Insertion Center of A Coruña “Carmela Arias and Diaz de Rábago”, in which users of the center participate through activities, and a joint interview with the Subdelegate.
In addition, we will continue to bring the municipalities of the province closer to “Travelling Suitcase against Gender Violence – MAVI” to encourage reading and promote reflection, awareness and awareness about violence against women, equality, and gender stereotypes and roles. The next MAVI stops will be next Friday 24th at the town hall of Val do Dubra, and on November 29th at Carballo.
