The deputy delegate of the Government in Pontevedra in office, María Isabel Alonso de Linaje Calzada, presided this morning the Xunta Local de Seguridad of the City of Moaña in which the protocol of collaboration between the State Security Forces and Bodies and the Local Police was signed within the framework of the program of Integral Monitoring of the Victims of Gender Violence. This protocol of collaboration is necessary to formalize the adhesion of the municipality to the VioGén System. The document was signed by the mayor of the town, Leticia Santos, and by the colonel head of the Command of the Civil Guard of Pontevedra, Simón Venzal. With this accession, Moaña becomes the seventeenth municipality of the province to be part of this program of protection of victims of gender violence of the Ministry of the Interior.
The signing of the protocol that took place today is the first procedure that must be formalized by all those municipalities that want to integrate into the VioGén System. The protocol includes the distribution of functions and assignments of victims among the Security Forces and Corps. This agreement allows local and state security forces and bodies to share information and resources and establish basic criteria for collaboration and coordination, so as to ensure effective enforcement of judicial measures to protect victims of gender-based violence. In particular, the protocol defines the functions of the Local Police in the field of gender violence and defines the follow-up and distribution of cases, which allows more effective and more resources to be added to the protection of victims.
Currently, according to the data collected in the VioGén System, 1,459 active cases of gender violence are recorded in the province.
To complete its accession to the VioGén System, the City Council must now sign the agreement with the Ministry of the Interior for access to the Comprehensive Monitoring System in cases of gender violence.
The VioGen System
The VioGen System was launched in 2007 by the Secretary of State for Security of the Ministry of the Interior with the aim of establishing a national network that allows the rapid, integral and effective monitoring and protection of women victims of #maltreatment, and their sons and daughters, in any part of Spanish territory, as well as to bring together the competent public institutions in the field of gender violence and integrate the information of the different cases.
The System also makes predictions of the risk of any victim and, depending on the level, provides adequate monitoring and protection of the woman concerned throughout the national territory. VioGén also carries out preventive work with warnings, alerts and alarms when any incident or event is detected that may put the victim’s integrity at risk.
