The government delegate, Pedro Blanco, valued the proposal of the mayor of Barbadás for the development of the municipal business park, one of the priorities of the local government for this mandate. In his visit to the city of Ourense, Blanco closed with the mayor of Barbadás, Xosé Carlos Valcárcel, the celebration of an upcoming meeting with the manager of Atlantic Business Soil (SEA), Beatriz Sestayo, to study the formulas that allow the future development of this industrial area, which intends to host companies in the technological field and which already has feasibility studies and even an execution budget of 7 million euros.
In addition, Pedro Blanco, who was accompanied by the deputy delegate of the Government in Ourense, Emilio González, also promised to transfer to the Ministry of Culture the Martín Gaite project, which aspires to turn this city of Ourense, in which the writer spent part of her childhood, into the capital of the centenary of her birth, which will take place in 2025.
During the visit to the Concello, the delegate took the opportunity to supervise the operation of the Vocational Guidance Unit (UOP), a new service of the Ministry of Education and Vocational Training in which the City Council and the Ministry collaborate and which is part of the Government Recovery Plan. There, in the Technological Classroom of the Solana Park (A Valenzá), he checked the services offered by this unit, associated with the “Aula Mentor” of the Ourense concello.
Barbadás is the only concello in Ourense to have this type of accompaniment and training units and that the Ministry of Education launched this year. In the case of Barbadás, the Government subsidizes its operation with 28,500 euros and the Concello offers the technical means and the local.
The Vocational Guidance Unit enables the processing of the “Certificate of Professionalism”, an official qualification that is achieved through work experience or unregulated training. For this, the service has a counselor who offers support and accompaniment throughout the administrative process.
This service is part of the “Aula Mentor” of Barbadás, which also began to operate this year and which offers online training, flexible and specialized titorization to people over 18 years of age. In this case, the Concello received an aid of 4,000 euros from the Ministry to provide equipment and collaborate in the maintenance of the facilities.
Meeting at the Concello
Previously, Pedro Blanco and the mayor met in the Casa do Concello, where they reviewed the projects of the Government in Barbadás and that translate into investments of 250,000 euros in different items. The delegate reiterated to the mayor the commitment of the Government of Pedro Sánchez with the local administration to offer new services and advance in the digitalization and sustainability of the municipalities.
Among the Government’s investments, the delegate highlighted the 171,118 euros that made it possible to renovate almost all the public light points of the concello; the effort to bring high-speed internet to the nearly 120 homes and businesses of Barbadás with the UNICO Program of the Ministry of Economic Affairs or the 43,900 euros for the fight against gender violence that the Concello received since 2021 from the Ministry of Equality.
Finally, the delegate also took advantage of the meeting to congratulate Barbadás for the recently won María Moliner prize for animation in reading awarded by the Ministry of Culture to its municipal library.
