The government delegate in Galicia, Pedro Blanco, today highlighted the work of the Ministry of Education and Vocational Training, leadership by its holder, Pilar Alegría, to modernize the Vocational Training that translates in Galicia into a record of enrollment with more than 58,000 Galicians and Galicians that this course chose to study a VET cycle. These figures show that “VET continues to grow and consolidate in Galicia and Spain as one of the most attractive means of training and access to qualified employment for young people”, he stressed.
The delegate meant that these figures are a good example of the work carried out by the Spanish Government over the last five years to modernise VET: “We are facing a priority policy, which is concretized in the new Vocational Training Law and which mobilized to date 6.6 billion euros to materialize it”.
The government delegate made this assessment after meeting with the Galician Mateo Rubal Fanego, who achieved the bronze medal in welding in the last edition of the European FP Championship “Euroskills”, held at the beginning of September in Gdansk (Poland). Qualified in Welding by the IES María Sarmiento de Viveiro (Lugo), Rubal had already reached the gold medal last year in the Spanish championship “SpainSkills”, allowing him this year to be part of the Spanish team that formed the Ministry of Education and Professional Training to represent Spain in Poland.
During the meeting, the government delegate congratulated the Galician representative of whom he said that “represents the quality and excellence of the Professional Training of Galicia and Spain”.
