The delegate of the Government, Pedro Blanco, visited today the City of Santa Comba to supervise the actions of the Government in the municipality together with the mayor, Alberto Romar, whom he congratulated for his recent appointment as councilor of the villa.
In the course of the meeting, the government delegate and the mayor valued actions such as the recent replacement of the luminaires of the city hall, with a government investment of just over 900,000 euros, and in which the lighting of several zebra steps was also included, which means an improvement in road safety.
They also highlighted the inclusion of Santa Comba in the Terras de Santiago Tourism Sustainability Plan which, with an investment of 1.3 million euros, promotes actions that seek to enhance local gastronomic markets, create and disseminate new formats of gastronomic tourism in the region and reinforce the offer of active tourism with the recovery of the Camino de los Arrieiros and fishing and agricultural trails.
Pedro Blanco also recalled the Government’s effort to bring broadband to all the municipalities of Galicia, an initiative that is materialized through the UNICO Program of the Ministry of Economic Affairs and that in Santa Comba allows to provide high-speed Internet connection to more than 700 homes and businesses that until now did not enjoy this service. “We talk about actions that allow us to strengthen our commitment to tourism, but also to energy efficiency, digitalization and care for our environment,” said the delegate.
Along with these actions, Santa Comba also received 7,074.32 euros from the Government’s Recovery, Transformation and Resilience Plan for a domestic composting program, and the 13,786.34 euros from the State Pact against Gender Violence that it receives from the Ministry of Equality.
In total, the investments of the Government in the municipality exceed 2 million euros, “Investments that show the commitment of the Government of Spain and the president, Pedro Sánchez, with the municipalities of Galicia. With everyone. For the first time, a government invests in each and every one of the municipalities of Galicia,” said Pedro Blanco.
Aid to dairy farmers
To this money must be added another type of aid that also had a strong impact on this town hall, which is one of the largest dairy production in Galicia. Thus, the government delegate recalled the CAP aid and the aid granted to deal with the impact of the drought and the consequences of the war in Ukraine, which add up to about 95 million euros for dairy farmers in Galicia.
