The subdelegate of the Government in A Coruña, María Rivas, received today at the headquarters of the subdelegation Begoña Sampedro, the first TEDAX woman of the Civil Guard and, until a few weeks ago also the only one.
María Rivas wanted to personally congratulate the Civil Guard for the award for professional perseverance that she recently received at the II Memorial María Jesús Carrascosa.
“I believe that Begoña is an example that must be valued because we are working with the present and with the future that our boys and girls are, and especially for our girls it is important that they know that there are no limitations” said the subdelegate.
For María Rivas, Begoña Sampedro is a reference in the field of the Civil Guard, being part of a body as specialized as the TEDAX. So he pointed out the importance of making his story known.
Begoña Sampedro entered the body when she was 23 years old after passing the same physical tests as men. In 2001, he took part in the call to enter and after passing the tests, both physical and psychological, in 2002 he entered the artificers of the Civil Guard.
In addition to congratulating her on the recognition, the subdelegate wanted to get to know the history of this woman who decided to be part of a body and a working group in which for more than twenty years she was the only woman. The deputy delegate said that in recent weeks two women joined the TEDAX group at the state level. “Although this is good news, it shows that we have to continue working to encourage the incorporation of women into the security forces and bodies of the State,” said the deputy delegate.
