Isabel Rodríguez values that Penitentiary Institutions assign 30 interns to the centers of Monterroso and Bonxe
The Deputy Delegate of the Government in Lugo, Isabel Rodríguez, welcomed today the 30 officials in practices destined to the province of Lugo by Penitentiary Institutions, whom she received this morning in the Subdelegation of the Government. Together with the directors of the penitentiaries of Monterroso and Bonxe, Félix Rodríguez and José Manuel Pernás, Isabel Rodríguez valued “the involvement and effort involved in sending such a large number of trainees to the two penitentiary centers of the province, which will contribute to the strengthening of the staff and will also result in a better attention to the 494 inmates and their reintegration into society, which is the final objective of this system.”
After congratulating them on completing their initial training, the deputy delegate wished them every success as public employees and asked them for commitment and professionalism with the reeducation of the prison population as one of the basic principles of penitentiary institutions.
The deputy delegate specified that the new officials are part of the public employment calls of 2021 and 2022, which are composed of 1,850 people. The 30 were incorporated in May to the penitentiary centers of Bonxe and Monterroso after completing a selective course where they acquired the technical skills necessary for a progressive professional integration. In the coming months, trainee officials are expected to complete the first phase of theory and improvement, then undergo a training exam and, if they pass it, continue their internship period in the province for one year.
Effective gender equality
During the event, Isabel Rodríguez pointed out that for the first time the number of women exceeds that of men, with 66.6% of the total, since of the 30 officials, 20 are women. “An example of effective gender equality, promoting real access for women to all destinations and positions, making Penitentiary Institutions an attractive body for them,” she stressed.
Of the 30 people who began their internships, 15 were assigned to the Bonxe penitentiary center and the other 15 to the Monterroso penitentiary center. With ages between 27 and 51, the majority are from the province of Lugo, although there are also officials who come from different parts of the Spanish territory such as Ourense, A Coruña, León, Cádiz, Murcia, Valencia, Toledo, Jaén, Madrid, Cáceres, Seville and Granada.
Keep moving
The deputy delegate took advantage of the event to thank all the staff of the penitentiary centers of Lugo for their efforts to continue advancing in the task of reintegrating the inmates and the inmates, working on the education and training of these people and their full inclusion in society.
