The Government’s deputy delegate in Pontevedra, Maica Larriba, gave today the cards of cyberexperts to 25 sixth grade primary school students of the CEIP of Marcón. All of them participated in the training talks of the National Police to make good use of new technologies, Internet and social networks, which served, as explained by the subdelegate, “to alert and prevent students about the risks hidden by the Internet and social networks.”
The student who received this card today is the one who has already completed the program of the National Police, who explained the dangers of the Internet and how to use it in a safe and responsible way.
After handing over the cards, Maica Larriba asked the already cirberexperts who “had passed on the training received to friends and family. You must give an example to other colleagues who are not yet experts like you in internet security; correct friends who do something wrong, and warn them of the danger they run when they carry out certain actions on the networks.”
The program, taught by the Citizen Protection Unit of the National Police of Pontevedra and with a duration of five teaching hours, is divided into ten didactic units in which, among other issues, it focuses on aspects such as cyberbullying, identity theft, grooming, sexting, technoaddictions, rules to maintain the privacy of users, as well as resources and advice to carry out safe navigation. The objective of the program is to bring a better digital education to children and their environment.
The training works as a complement to the various preventive actions already carried out by the delegations of Citizen Participation, for example through the Master Plan for Coexistence and Improvement of Security in Educational Centers. In this regard, the Government’s deputy delegate also wanted to acknowledge the “fundamental” work done by the National Police in promoting the safe use of the Internet and in preventing cybercrime among the neighborhood of the province.
In the act of surrender, the subdelegate was accompanied by the provincial commissioner, Juan José Díaz, and two agents of the Citizen Protection Unit.
