The subdelegate of the Government in Lugo, Isabel Rodríguez, participated this Monday in Lugo in the delivery of the Cyberexpert@ cards to the 51 students, of the 6th grade of primary, of the CEIP Rosalía de Castro. Accompanied by the police trainer, Rubén Darío Veiga; and the director of the center, Loli Castro, she stressed the importance of working together for greater security and tranquility of minors in all environments, bringing digital education closer with programs such as this of the Ministry of the Interior.
Isabel Rodríguez congratulated the students and the teaching team for participating in this training activity given by Citizen Participation of the National Police and stressed the importance of educating children in the proper use of ICTs and social networks, forming and raising awareness about the safe use of the Internet. The subdelegate also stressed the excellent collaboration between the educational community and the Government Subdelegation in the development of this type of initiative, “with a great demand throughout the school year.”
In total, 320 Lucenses from nine schools in the capital of the province received personalized cards that accredit them as experts in network security. For the link, the boys received a course in which they learned to detect the dangers of the network and use it safely, in addition to performing a final knowledge test. The program allowed experts from the National Police to address issues such as cyberbullying, digital addictions, identity theft, access to inappropriate content, privacy management or parental mediation.
This state program, exclusive to the National Police, is framed in the Master Plan for Coexistence and Improvement of Security in educational centers and their environments. Its main objectives are to sensitize and train minors to minimize the risks of new technologies, familiarize them with the use of tools that facilitate safer navigation, raise awareness in the management of privacy and acquire skills for safe communication in social networks.
