The subdelegate of the Government in A Coruña, María Rivas, visited today A Pobra do Caramiñal to supervise the work that is being carried out in A Ribeiriña, after the recovery by the Ministry for the Ecological Transition and the Demographic Challenge of the land of public domain maritime land, ceded in its day to the company of the Ounce of Gold and Hadasa.
This action, financed with the funds of the Recovery Plan, will make it possible to recover the land occupied by the ramp, docks and esplanade, thus completing the recovery work begun in 2011 with the demolition of the nave of the Ounce of Gold, carried out by the Ministry.
The land’s maritime public domain area to recover to its natural state is approximately 5,500 square meters. As for the execution period, it is approximately eight months.
This work is included in the second phase of the action plan of the Ministry for the Ecological Transition for the recovery of the public land maritime domain in the province of A Coruña and has a global budget of 2,316,087.02 euros. The works of A Riberiña have one of the most important items since it amounts to almost 800,000 euros.
As highlighted by the Government’s deputy delegate, “this action is part of the objectives set by the Ministry to remove walls, landfills, embankments or elements of this type from areas in the public domain.” With interventions of these characteristics “it is possible to eliminate elements that have a negative visual and environmental impact in the area”.
In this regard, María Rivas highlighted the work that the Government is doing to recover public spaces for the enjoyment of citizenship, also avoiding its degradation.
“In projects such as this one, you can see how the Government’s Recovery Plan reaches all the citizens and every corner of the province,” explained the deputy who, added, “comes in the form of recovery and rehabilitation of our coast, of fast internet connection, of aid to young people to consume culture, of conservation and maintenance of roads.”
María Rivas also stressed the importance of the Recovery Plan for territorial cohesion that offers equal opportunities to citizens regardless of where they live.
“All the neighbors and neighbors not only of A Riberiña but also of A Pobra are in luck with the regeneration of this area thanks to the effort and the commitment of the Government to recover environmentally and visually degraded areas” explained the subdelegate who recalled that the project also contemplates a coastal path “will undoubtedly be an added value for this place”.
During her visit the Deputy Delegate of the Government was accompanied by the Mayor, Xosé Lois Piñeiro García, by the Councilor for Institutional Relations, Patricia Lojo, by the Councilor for Municipal Services, Estefanía Ramos and by the head of the Coastal Demarcation of A Coruña, Rafael Eimil.
With regard to the work that will be carried out in this phase, in addition to the demolition of the concrete esplanade, fences and ramps of access to the sea, the chopping of floors, the demolition of concrete defenses and the excavation of fillings will be undertaken.
