The subdelegate of the Government in Lugo, Isabel Rodríguez, advanced today that the Ministry for Ecological Transition and the Demographic Challenge will carry out new actions on the beach of O Cargadoiro, in the city of Ribadeo, highlighting the commitment of the Government of Spain with the maintenance and improvement of the coast of the Lucense Marina.
The Province Back Service has awarded works for a budget of 46,500 euros for the rehabilitation and conditioning of the only access to the sandy beach, located on the left side of the mouth of the Ribadeo estuary, affected by a slip of land that caused the consequent emptying and lack of support of the structure that supports the stairs.
The subdelegate assured that with these actions an immediate response is given to a demand of the neighborhood, allowing users and tourists to use this natural space again. “The objective is that the beach of O Cargadoiro is in the optimal state for the beginning of the summer season, as it is one of the numerous tourist sites we have in Ribadeo, offering the best service and safety to bathers,” he added.
In addition, Isabel Rodríguez said that these improvements confirm the commitment and sensitivity of the Central Government with the improvement of the beaches of the Mariña coast, where projects of protection and regeneration of the coast are also being promoted to the value of 1.9 million euros, in municipalities such as Foz, Barreiros, Burela and O Vicedo.
The planned works will consist of the repair and consolidation of the structure that supports the stairs, in addition to the remodeling of this infrastructure, which will result in better protection against the waves. These repairs, which will begin in the coming weeks and have an execution period of two months, are carried out at this time of year so as not to run the risk of temporary events affecting these areas, which would mean that the intervention would be null and void.
