The Deputy Delegate of the Government in Lugo, Isabel Rodríguez, today stressed that achieving effective equality between women and men is a priority and strategic objective “for a deeply feminist Government like that of Spain”, as evidenced by the numerous political initiatives against discrimination launched by the Executive, the last, the law of equal representation between men and women in the decision centers that will be approved tomorrow in the Council of Ministers, “consolidating Spain as a reference country in gender equality throughout the world”.
She said this after installing, this morning, a commemorative banner of International Women’s Day, which is celebrated on March 8, on the facade of the Government Subdelegation. At the event, she was accompanied by the head of the Unit against violence against women, María Luisa Castro. In this way, it is intended to contribute to visibility and social awareness of 8-M as a date that claims women’s rights and real equality “because despite the many advances achieved, there are still many gender gaps that we must eliminate in order to achieve a fair, egalitarian and inclusive society,” said the subdelegate.
With this event, the Government Subdelegation begins the programming around International Women’s Day, which is added to the reading of an institutional declaration on 8-M, and the celebration of a day to publicize the rights of women in the labor field.
