The deputy delegate has assured that the action “of vital importance for the city of Miño, responds to the requests of the City Council and the mayor himself with the objective of revaluing such an emblematic beach”. She added that the objective is “to make compatible the use of citizenship and tourists with environmental protection”.
María Rivas has also been accompanied on her visit to Miño by the head of the Coastal Demarcation, Rafael Eimil. The subdelegate has visited the area of the dunes where invasive plants and allochthonous species will be removed. In addition, protective measures will be installed by delimiting the protected space with wood and rope, in order to be consistent with the environment.
The recovery of the area of the marshes, occupied for years by a football field, will be another of the actions, which will be carried out in this regeneration with all the necessary precautions to preserve the shellfish banks.
In this regard, the subdelegate has said that this project includes a contract of services to carry out an environmental monitoring of the work “that must have a project of this nature”
The rehabilitation works of the Grande beach will also undertake the replacement of the wooden walkway by another of a material more in accordance with the environment and easier to maintain.
The deputy delegate recalled that on the part of the Government “the priority and concern has always been to protect this natural space and recover that area from the marshes that has involved an arduous administrative work over many years.”
María Rivas recalled that both the regeneration and protection of this beach is an old demand of Miño since this sandy area, in addition to the great natural value, is one of the main tourist assets of the municipality. Regarding the deadlines, the subdelegate said that it will be after the summer when the regenartion works are put out to tender.
