Lalín, February 6, 2023.- The deputy delegate of the Government in Pontevedra, Maica Larriba, presided today the Local Security Xunta of the City of Lalín, together with its mayor, José Crespo. The Lieutenant Colonel of the Civil Guard, Manuel Touceda, as well as members of the Autonomous Police, Local Police and emergency corps also attended. At the meeting, the security and traffic operation was planned for the celebration of the fiftyfifth edition of the Lalín Stew Fair. Maica Larriba pointed out that “after two years marked by the pandemic, a great influx of public is expected both on the big day of the Fair and in the previous days, which makes an exhaustive work of coordination between the bodies and security forces that guarantees the good development of the festive events and, therefore, the security of the neighbors and numerous visitors that Lalín receives in these days”.
Maica Larriba stressed “the maximum availability of the State Security Bodies and Forces to articulate the relevant measures that guarantee citizen security, both on the 12th and on the eve and on Friday, when the gala of the Cooked will take place in the Lalín Arena”.
Thus, the meeting coordinated the device with respect to the gala and the Baking Fair and planned the public safety of the event since the Local Security Boards constitute not only the operational coordination bodies, but also informative.
Thus, the actions that are going to be carried out by the State Security Bodies and Forces go through the implementation of traffic controls at the accesses to Lalín and the activation of alcohol and drug controls that serve as prevention due to the possible lack of responsibility of some drivers, which will take place throughout the weekend. Security will be strengthened by the State Security Forces Corps, which will also provide support to local police officers, ensuring the smooth running of festive activities.
Maica Larriba called for a Cooking Fair without gender violence and without sexual assaults and requested the implementation of violet points of information and advice to women who may need it, attended by specialized professionals.
A safe city council
Finally, the subdelegate took the opportunity to publicize the data of prison infractions related to the year 2022 and explained that Lalín continues to be a very calm and safe city council. Thus, he pointed out that the municipality maintains a crime figure for every 1,000 inhabitants ten points below the provincial average and that 28% of the prison infractions reported last year were cybercrimes. He also highlighted the great effectiveness of the police with a 43% crime clarification rate, one of the highest at the provincial level.
