The subdelegate of the Government in Lugo, Isabel Rodríguez, confirmed today in Pantón the glue that is having the Recovery, Transformation and Resilience Plan of the Government in the municipalities of the province, with more than 390,000 euros for the renewal and modernization of the outdoor public lighting system in 53 areas of the municipality. “The Government of Pedro Sánchez helps small municipalities to fight depopulation and participate in the energy transition, turning the Recovery Plan into an opportunity to accelerate the leap towards a greener, sustainable and fair economy,” said the Subdelegate who explained that these actions in the City of Pantón were financed with 4 grants from the DUS 5000 Program, managed by the Ministry of Ecological Transition and the Demographic Challenge.
“Thanks to the aid from the State, the City of Pantón was able to modernize more than 45% of the public lighting of the municipality with efficient technology, reducing energy consumption by 75%, which allows the Council to reduce its annual energy bill by more than 80,000 euros that they can invest in other priorities and improve the public services they offer to neighbors,” said Isabel Rodríguez. The deputy delegate met with its mayor, José Luis Álvarez, and part of the municipal corporation, to inform them, in addition, about the available programs of the Government in the field of housing, ecological transition and public administration, and to know, at the same time, their demands and concerns.
Isabel Rodríguez explained that the financial contribution of the Executive accounts for 85% of the total actions and means a very important collaboration for a City Council such as Pantón, “which was able to face a work that today is very relevant due to energy costs and the need to move forward in the energy transition”. Thus, they replaced 1,154 luminaires with news of LED technology. In addition, 44 installations were renovated in more than 50 town hall centers, including protective panels and part of the wiring.
Specifically, the nuclei of Pantón that benefited from these works are Ferreira, Siós, Castillón, Acedre, Mato, Piñeiro, Ferreiroá, Paderne, Viriles, Sernande, Vilanova, Tanquián, Guende, Ral, Hermida, Xesteira, San Vicente, Serpentiña, Bargo, Castroañe, Carballo, Campo, Formulia, Cotillón, Cangas, Oseira, Guiande, Pantrariera
The DUS 5000 is aimed at municipalities with a population of less than 5,000 inhabitants with the aim of encouraging the energy transition and the change towards sustainable mobility of small municipalities, which are more difficult to undertake large investments, through unique and clean energy projects.
High Speed Internet
A subdelegate informed of the presence of Pantón in the two calls for digitization of the territory promoted by the Ministry of Economic Affairs and Digital Transformation within the Recovery Plan. Thus, Pantón will have high-speed internet, greater than 300mb, in 421 points where 1,336 homes and companies of the municipality are located. “We guarantee the connectivity of more than 300 megas to almost the entire territory, in areas where today they do not have this type of coverage, basic for people living in rural areas and to settle new population,” added Isabel Rodríguez.
Between the two calls for the UN-Broadband Plan, the Government invests in the province of Lugo 22.5 million euros to bring high-speed connection technology to more than 32,700 homes and companies in the province
