The deputy delegate of the Government in Pontevedra, Maica Larriba, presided this morning the Xunta Local de Seguridad of the City of Cangas, together with its mayor, Victoria Puertas, held on the occasion of the imminent celebrations of the Carnival in the town. The meeting was also attended by the chief colonel of the Pontevedra Civil Guard Command, Simón Venzal, the chief captain of the Traffic subsector of the Pontevedra Civil Guard, Antonio Pérez Piteira, as well as members of the Local Police and the emergency corps.
The meeting planned the special operation of security and traffic on the occasion of the municipal celebrations of the Carnival. Maica Larriba pointed out that “after two years marked by the pandemic, a great influx of public is expected throughout the week”. In this regard, he stressed the importance of coordination between the different bodies and security forces to ensure “the good development of the festive events and, therefore, the safety of the neighborhood and visitors who approach Cangas and its parishes in these days.”
Maica Larriba stressed “the maximum availability of the State Security Bodies and Forces to articulate the relevant measures that guarantee citizen security and road safety” and reported on the different actions that they will carry out and that go through the realization of traffic controls in the accesses to the villa and its parishes, which may involve some traffic cuts in certain streets throughout the week, and by the activation of alcohol and drug controls.
Likewise, and with the aim of protecting the heritage of the City Council and guaranteeing its integrity, the temporary fence of the artistic historical complex of the cruise of Hío was determined.
The agents of the State Security Forces and Corps will work in coordination with the agents of the Local Police and Civil Protection, ensuring the safety of citizens and the good development of the festive activities.
Finally , Maica Larriba called for a celebration of the Carnival without gender violence and without sexual assaults and requested the implementation of violet points of information and advice to women who may need it, attended by specialized professionals.
