The government delegate in Galicia, José Miñones, reaffirmed the commitment of the Government of Pedro Sánchez for the green transition and the digitalization of rural municipalities, with investments that in Vilariño de Conso exceed 1.5 million euros through three ministries.
José Miñones traveled this week to the City of Vilariño de Conso together with the subdelegate of the Government in the province, Emilio González. There they held a meeting with the mayor, Melisa Macía, and with the municipal corporation, to present the lines authorized by the Government for the municipalities, supervise the state investments in this municipality and know their demands and opinions.
José Miñones put Vilariño de Conso as an example of the government’s commitment to small municipalities, “which are called to be protagonists of the transformation of Spain towards a green, digital, sustainable and cohesive country, in which the gaps that now exist between the rural world, towns and cities are reduced”.
Performances in the Natural Park
The government delegate highlighted the projects financed by the government in the O WinterDoiro Natural Park, in Vilariño de Conso. Thus, the Ministry for Ecological Transition is regenerating land affected by the forest fire of July 2022 by the emergency procedure. The work began last October and will end next March and has a budget of 399,245 euros. The tasks include: the cleaning and maintenance of the affected road network, the removal of burnt wood to prevent the proliferation of pests and to allow the regeneration and repopulation of species and the improvement of the drainage network.
José Miñones added that the Government also acts in the same Park but through another ministry, the Ministry of Transport, Mobility and Urban Agenda (MITMA). In this case through the Program to Promote the Rehabilitation of Public Buildings, so the Government finances the improvement of equipment owned by the Xunta de Galicia. Through this line, which is part of the Recovery, Transformation and Resilience Plan, MITMA finances with 833,327 euros the remodeling of the four buildings that house the visitor care and interpretation complex of the Park, in the City of Vilariño de Conso.
Public lighting efficiency
In the same green transition line, the delegate included the aid granted by the Ministry for Ecological Transition and the Demographic Challenge, through the Institute for Energy Diversification IDAE. This aid amounted to 279,160 euros and with it the local government of Vilariño faced the energy improvement of the municipal lighting of this City Council.
The action, already completed, consisted of the replacement of 642 traditional type luminaires with LED type luminaires of greater performance and efficiency, along with the replacement of 16 control panels. With it, the electricity consumption of this town hall decreased by 70%, in addition to reducing the ecological footprint of the municipality.
High Speed Internet Coverage
José Miñones also advanced the impact of the investments in digitalization that the Government is executing, through the Ministry of Economic Affairs and Digital Transformation, and that will also reach Vilariño de Conso. This action is part of the UN-Broadband Program, within the Government’s Recovery, Transformation and Resilience Plan.
He explained that the UN-Broadband Program will facilitate broadband connection with ultra-fast speed to 372 families and companies in Vilariño, which in practice means the complete digitization of the municipal territory providing access with speeds of 300Mbs.
