Xinzo de Limia (Ourense), January 25, 2023.- The Subdelegate of the Government in Ourense, Emilio González, and the Mayor of Xinzo de Limia, Elvira Lama, co-chaired this morning the meeting of the Local Security Board in which a citizen security analysis was carried out, as well as data on gender violence in the municipality and the measures of the self-protection plan of the Carnival were studied given the relevance, declared of international tourist interest, and the proximity of this festivity as The Carnival will be longer and will be.
Regarding citizen security, Emilio González noted that “the crime rate in Xinzo de Limia remains within normal levels.” González highlighted the "collaboration and coordination in the actions" of both the local police of the municipality and the Civil Guard, highlighting their work.
As for the data recorded in the Comprehensive Monitoring System in cases of Gender Violence (VioGén System), there are currently fourteen active cases in the municipality of Xinzo de Limia. Of these, one presents medium risk, eleven low risk and two unappreciated risk and thirteen have judicial measures of prohibition of rapprochement and communication (CAP).
In relation to the Master Plan for Coexistence and Improvement of Security in Educational Centers and its environment, the Government subdelegate has stressed that the mechanisms of communication and collaboration with the educational centers of the City Council will be increased with the objective of enhancing the resources with which to inform and train the participants about bullying; use of new technologies; use of drugs and alcohol; gender violence; discourteous, violent and vandal behavior; and racism, xenophobia and intolerance, among other issues. The subdelegate also stressed the need to extend the information and training of the Plan to the ANPAS of the educational centers so that parents have as much information as possible about these measures.
Carnival
Regarding the Carnival, the Subdelegate asked for the maximum collaboration to other administrations, especially the Xunta de Galicia, with the regional police; as well as the citizen collaboration for the correct development of these days of celebrations given the large influx of public that is expected. For her part, the mayor, Elvira Lama, has explained the measures of the "self-protection plan" carried out by the City Council and the security forces and which will extend from the "petardo" to the days of carnival. This will be the first of the Security Meetings that will be chaired by the subdelegate this week.
In the next few days they will be held in Viana do Bolo and Verín, touring and analyzing the protection measures that will be carried out in the large Carnival localities.
