The government delegate in Galicia, José Miñones, reaffirmed today in Nigrán the government’s commitment to territorial cohesion and the promotion of sustainable tourism in Galicia, with the contribution of one and a half million euros from the Ministry of Industry for the development of the Tourist Sustainability Plan in Destination (PSTD) ‘Geodestino Ría de Vigo and Baixo Miño. Pantry of Galicia’. “The Government’s Recovery Plan reaches the Ría de Vigo and Baixo Miño and represents a unique opportunity to transform tourism in our community and project it towards the future, with a green, sustainable, digital and competitive model,” said the delegate.
The presentation of the project took place at the Porto do Molle business center with the participation of the mayor of Nigrán and institutional representative of the Geodestino Ría de Vigo and Baixo Miño, Juan González Pérez; and the president of the Galicia Sudoeste Eu Rural Development Association and mayor of Tomiño, Sandra González. The Government’s deputy delegate in Pontevedra, Maica Larriba, also attended. At the event, José Miñones expressed his conviction that this economic injection by the Government will serve to “enhance this important area of Galicia and consolidate it as a destination committed to the conservation of the environment, innovative and digitalized, flexible and resilient to the new challenges”.
The tourism sustainability plan of the geodestination Ría de Vigo and Baixo Miño is one of the 16 that the Ministry of Industry, Trade and Tourism selected to finance in Galicia, in charge of the extraordinary call for Tourism Sustainability Plans in Destination 2022, which is part of the Government Recovery Plan. The final list of projects was approved in December by the Tourism Sector Conference. In this call Galicia will receive 34,575,400 euros for the development of the projects approved in the community and that benefit all the provinces.
José Miñones stressed that with these investments the Government seeks to promote greener tourism and more efficient mobility. This year, the plans focus on wine tourism. The Destination Tourism Sustainability Plans, the delegate said, “represent the best example of collaboration between administrations in benefit of the competitiveness and quality of all our tourist destinations.”
The delegate stressed that the investments of the Government consolidate Galicia as a green, sustainable and quality tourist destination and concluded: “We are designing the tourism of the future of Galicia to make our land a sustainable, competitive and quality destination of first level.”
