The subdelegate of the Government in Lugo, Isabel Rodríguez, reiterated in Rábade the commitment of the Government with the construction of a new pedestrian walkway on the railway track as it passes through the municipality and the abolition of the level crossing located in the surroundings of the parish of O Cruceiro. The deputy delegate, accompanied by the mayor, Francisco Xosé Fernández, and the deputy mayor, Alejandro Martínez, visited the area where the new infrastructure will be installed and informed that ADIF is currently in the middle of supervising the project to tender the works, predictably at the beginning of this year, with an investment of more than 710,000 euros (VAT included).
In this sense, the subdelegate recalled that “it was the Government of Pedro Sánchez that unblocked this project, attending to a historical demand of the neighbors of Rábade that they will see a clear improvement in the accessibility of this environment, increasing, at the same time, the security of the citizens”.
Specifically, the Adif project contemplates the demolition of the current urban walkway, dating from the 50s, by a news that will connect Campo de la Feria street and the Plaza de España with the railway station. The platform, elevated, will have access by stairs and elevator, will be metallic and will have a length in pranta of 27.6 meters, “making this step accessible to all types of pawns and promoting with that universal accessibility,” said Rodríguez.
In addition, lighting will again be provided to the area for greater visibility. On the other hand, the subdelegate said that for the elimination of the level crossing at kilometer point 446/350 of the Palencia A Coruña line, Adif will execute two closing walls on both sides of the railway to prevent access and will expand the area for the traffic of pawns and vehicles. “With these actions we want to eliminate the dangerousness that this step currently entails,” said the deputy delegate.
Finally, Isabel Rodríguez pointed out that these improvements in Rábade are another example of the Central Government’s real commitment to the development of the province, “in an exercise in which it will inject millions in investments in infrastructure, fulfilling with facts the commitment to modernize the railway,” he said.
