The deputy delegate of the Government, Isabel Rodríguez, stressed today that “the Government of Pedro Sánchez reaffirms its firm commitment to the province of Lugo with the implementation of the new Court of First Instance.” The deputy delegate welcomed the fact that from today Lugo has a new judicial body of First Instance, number 6, during a visit this morning to the facilities that host these judicial units, located in the headquarters of the Courts of Lugo, and in which the mayor of Lugo, Lara Méndez, the president of the Superior Court of Xustiza of Galicia, José María Gómez and Díaz-Castroverde, the acting president of the Provincial High Court of Lugo, Edgar Armando Cloos, the judge decana de Lugo, José Dízoni, as well.
“We are in luck, because today a new judicial unit very necessary for the people of Lugo is starting, with which the Government seeks to meet, alleviate and resolve the existing workload in the Administration of Justice in Lugo,” said the subdelegate who explained that this new endowment shows the commitment of the Central Executive with the public service of Justice and stressed that “it is an advance to continue promoting the transformation that the sector is experiencing in our country.”
Isabel Rodríguez explained that, with the creation of the Court of First Instance number 6 of Lugo, the Ministry of Justice covers a need generated by the accumulation of procedures in the jurisdiction of First Instance, one of those that carries the greatest workload, exacerbated by the procedures suspended during the months of the pandemic. “Thanks to this new judicial body, the professionals will provide an agile output to the accumulated volumes of work, covering the existing needs, and the citizens summer a more effective and efficient justice, guaranteeing the effective protection of their rights,” added the subdelegate.
As Rodríguez reported, this new court in Lugo is part of the execution by the Ministry of Justice of 70 new judicial units throughout Spain, 3 in Galicia (Lugo, A Coruña and Vigo), corresponding to the programming of 2022 and adaptation to the judicial plant. Specifically, the sixth Court of First Instance has jurisdiction in matters relating to family law, measures to support persons with disabilities in the exercise of their legal capacity and internment, as published by the Ministry in the Official State Gazette.

In addition to the recent Court of First Instance No. 6, the Government approved the implementation of the 4 Social Court for Lugo, which has been in service since March 31, 2022.
