On March 6, the Government Delegation in Extremadura will present the awards 'Women who break up' on the occasion of the commemorative events for International Women's Day. The event, which will be held at 11:00 a.m. in the Assembly Hall, aims to recognize those women from Extremadura who are known for breaking with traditional and masculinized stereotypes.
This year the institution will award this distinction to four Extremadura women: the two secretaries-general who lead the two unions CC.OO and UGT in Extremadura, Encarna Chacón and Patro Sánchez, respectively; the Pacense Guadalupe Porras, football referee and first assistant collegiate to debut in the top category of Spanish football and in an international men’s competition; and Loida Zabala, an Extremadura athlete who competes in adapted power lifting and who has recently established a new record of paralympic weightlifting in the 67-kg category.
The Government Delegation in Extremadura awards these prizes every year and they reach their fourth edition in 2025. With the dedication of the 'Women who break up' it is intended to recognize the role of women who from their space advance society, as well as being inspiring referents that break gender stereotypes and promote equality.
