The government delegate in Extremadura, José Luis Quintana, visited today the Civil Guard Command in Badajoz to thank the troops of the Benemérita for their work during the events of recent days in the municipality of Fregenal de la Sierra.
During his stay, he had a brief meeting with officials of the different units that participated in the case in which a man barricaded himself in the family home after threatening and confronting agents of this body with a knife.
Quintana has reiterated that the action carried out by the Civil Guard troops was impeccable and that it demonstrates the training and professionalism of the agents to face complicated situations such as the one that occurred in Fregenal.
The delegate has congratulated both the commanders of these units, and the agents who acted on the ground, for demonstrating the ability to resolve a violent event without having to resort to force or the use of weapons. In this regard, he has highlighted the magnificent work that they are carrying out in Extremadura, especially in the rural areas where their area of action is mainly concentrated.
“Extremadura is one of the safest regions in Spain, and this is due, in large part, to the actions carried out by the State Security Forces and Corps. Combating the risks faced by today’s society requires a legal, comprehensive, constant and specialized response from our agents. The action carried out and the resolution of the events in Fregenal is a demonstration that citizen security is in very good hands,” he said.
The government delegate considers that solutions to conflicts such as the one that occurred in Fregenal demonstrate the high degree of professionalism of the National Police and Civil Guard personnel in their decisive contribution to making Spain a safer country.
