The government delegate in Extremadura, José Luis Quintana, participated today in the Merida Traffic School in the closing of the “VI Course of the Traffic Specialty in the Modalities of Motorists and Attested Level C” for student guards in practice, where he wanted to recognize the “unpayable” work carried out by the Civil Traffic Guard.
During his speech, the delegate explained that in the last 25 years the deaths on the roads of Extremadura have been reduced in a “spectacular” way, in 1999, Quintana explained, 205 deaths were counted and last year, despite having been a bad year, the deaths were 51.
In this regard, Quintana has affirmed that safety on the roads in a joint work, from public officials improving the conditions of the roads; the General Directorate of Traffic applying those appropriate normative and preventive measures; the Civil Traffic Guard exercising surveillance and aid on the roads, to citizens complying with the rules of circulation with conviction.
About this Traffic School located in Mérida, the delegate recalled that since its inauguration in 1996 more than 35,000 students have passed through it that have been trained “surely” in the highest specialized training center in the world. “You are a world leader.”
Likewise, Quintana has affirmed that the Government of Spain has increased in recent years the salaries of members of the Civil Guard by 30 percent and the workforce has increased by 15 percent. “More civil guards and better salaries; that is our commitment that we will continue to apply, because it is of justice and because you deserve it. Never, any government in Spain has improved the conditions of the body as this government has done.”
Finally, the delegate has congratulated all the students who have successfully completed the courses of bikers and attestations. “I am sure that in addition to the best technical and professional training you have also received from your teachers that emotional impulse that characterizes you and that makes civil traffic guards a model of commitment to citizens” he concluded.
