The government delegate in Extremadura, José Luis Quintana, attended today in Jarandilla de la Vera the signing of the agreements between the Tajo Hydrographic Confederation and the Communities of Irrigators of the Rosarito Reservoir.
The government delegate has affirmed that the Government of Spain is committed to continue working to promote agreements such as this. “We want to value the efforts of farmers who are betting on the self-management of water resources and the modernization of their farms.”
In this regard, Quintana has explained that with this agreement, irrigators are incorporated to participate in decision-making, to take responsibility for proper water management that will help improve the productivity of their farms; and also to raise awareness about the necessary environmental sustainability of irrigation as a tool for the future for rural areas.
Finally, the delegate has recognized the irrigators of the left and right margins of the Rosarito Canal for the signing of these agreements of progressive entrustment of exploitation of the irrigated area because with this they “take a step forward in the processes of planning and management of water resources and in the definition of decisions that will affect them directly in their own agricultural activity” he concluded.
The signing ceremony was attended by the president of the CHT, Antonio Yáñez City, the presidents of the Communities of Regantes of Rosarito: Javier Arregui Abendivar, Margin Left, and Gregorio Sánchez Cañadas, Margin Right, mayors of the municipalities, among others.
