The government delegate in Extremadura, Francisco Mendoza and the mayor of Almendralejo, José María Ramírez, co-chaired this morning the Local Security Board of the town where the security device for the Festivities of La Piedad has been established, which will be held from August 11 to 16, in addition to dealing with the arrival of the seasonal workers with the beginning of the agricultural campaigns of grapes and olives.
The device intended to guarantee citizen security during the festivities of La Piedad will be composed of a total of 250 troops in which the National Police, Civil Guard and Local Police are included. Each of the bodies will exercise its competences, such as citizen security, traffic regulation and alcohol and drug controls and traffic regulation in the urban center, respectively. In addition, the volunteers of Civil Protection, Red Cross and firefighters must be added to this device, all of them will ensure the proper development of the fairs and festivals of the town.
Francisco Mendoza, regarding the arrival of seasonal workers destined for the grape and olive campaign, has stressed that “it will require reinforcements of the presence of the National Police to transmit security conditions to the town after the punctual increase of the population.”
In addition to the government delegate in Extremadura and the mayor of the town, the Secretary General of Emergencies, Civil and Internal Protection, State Security Forces and Bodies, Local Police, firefighters, civil protection, Red Cross and members of the municipal corporation of Almendralejo participated in this meeting.
