April 27, 2023. Government Delegation in Extremadura and Full Inclusion have collaborated in the development of a new system of accessible signage for the municipal and regional elections on May 28.
Thus, a total of 30,040 posters will be distributed by all the electoral colleges of the region (792 in total) to facilitate the right to vote of all citizens and especially that of people with intellectual or developmental disabilities, elderly people and also that of young people who will vote first time on the day of the elections.
They are signs of easy signage and simple understanding, whose printing has been assumed by the printing services of the Provincial Council of Badajoz, which has made them in graphic cardboard with the aim of improving their visibility, their duration and also their reuse in subsequent electoral days.
Today, the government delegate in Extremadura, Francisco Mendoza, together with the president of Full Inclusion in the region, Pedro Calderón and the first vice-president of the Provincial Council of Badajoz, Ricardo Cabezas, accompanied the members of the groups Aprosuba, Aexpainba and Asprodis Nuestra Señora de la Luz, while preparing the signage in the Government Delegation.
In this regard, Francisco Mendoza, valued the importance of an initiative, which, as he recalled, was already launched in the past elections, placing Extremadura as a “pioneer” community in cognitive accessibility on election days.
“This initiative was a success in the last elections and was transferred to us by the municipalities and the groups it helps, but on this occasion we have improved it by promoting the cognitive accessibility of many people in the exercise of their right to vote,” he said.
For his part, the president of Full Inclusion, Pedro Calderón, showed his satisfaction with an action that enriches and favors thousands of people in the region and that makes the Extremadura community an example of inclusion and accessibility at the national level.
The Vice President of the Provincial Council, Ricardo Cabeza, also expressed the importance for the institution he represents of collaborating in a project such as this, which guarantees the exercise of the right to vote with full guarantee to such a prominent sector of society.
