“Violence against women requires an unambiguous response, sustained in resources and in public policies,” said the delegate of the Government in the Valencian Community, Pilar Bernabé, for whom “the denial speeches generate deprotection, discredit the victims and erode the consensuses that support the iguadad.”
Today the institutional event was held in the Government Delegation in the Valencian Community No Empty Chair on the occasion of the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women to be commemorated tomorrow. With this act, we remember the 38 women and 3 children who have been killed in Spain so far this year, victims of male violence.
This day must also serve “to point out those who emerge from the consensus of the Pact of State that has been renewed thanks to the agreement, the dialogue and the policy in capital letters with which to attend to the new violence, and the new ways to combat it”. However, the State Pact “is not complete because there are political parties that have first refused to recognize gender violence as such, with a negationism that kills and with parties that today are conditioning autonomous governments such as the Valencian Community”.
At the event held in the cloister of the Palau del Temple, chairs have been placed with the names of each of the victims of gender violence in Spain during 2025. This tribute ended with the reading of the murdered women and then a minute of silence was observed presided over by the government delegate, Pilar Bernabé.
